How to Survive (and thrive) in 2026 – Riding the Untamable Horse
I don’t do well in summer.
The super–sunny, never–ending days; the bright, cloud–free skies over my head (4 a.m.–10 p.m. at this latitude); the heat, the dryness… are more than I can happily handle. I witness with envy the joy of many: “Winter is over, yayyy!”, “Finally, good weather!”, or “Let’s get ice cream at the beach!” Comments like that. And I get it — I live in Canada.
But still… I’m grumpy, cranky, hotheaded, and worst of all, I feel misunderstood and alone; a weirdo. Like, what’s wrong with me, really?
Until I learned Chinese Astrology.
The FIRE element is not good for my personal energetic structure. Huge aha–all–falls–into–place–now moment. That explains sooooo many things! Spring makes me sick — no, it’s not seasonal allergy; it’s energetic allergy (WOOD stokes FIRE) — summer is exhausting and depletes my energy, and I never wear green or red. Because 80% of my natal chart is Wood and Fire – I don’t need more.
So, when I saw the Yang Fire Horse Year coming, drops of sweat started falling down my forehead. (Furthermore, the Water Rat on my Day Pillar clashes – big time – with the Fire Horse.)
“It’s going to be bad, Elena!”
But then I remembered:
“No time is bad if you know how to use it.”
And jumped into my books, the classics, the web… to investigate, research, read, learn… diving deep – all of those actions belong to Water element, btw, the element that balances my natal chart – until I found what I was looking for:
How to successfully navigate 2026 – a year of unprecedented intensity, power, uncertainty, challenges, and rewards.
The 2026 Astrological Chart
The BaZi chart of a year cannot be analyzed in the same way as the BaZi chart of a human being, obviously.
The reading of a person’s natal chart goes deep into all the layers that are expressed in that individual being – the personality traits and innate talents; the relationship with parents, siblings, and children; the wealth and health potential; patterns, challenges, blockages… and many more aspects stemming from that specific life.
The four pillars of a year represent different levels of a global reality that is energetically expressed in the collective during a specific time frame.
The year pillar describes the most external and visible influence – the context that frames the collective reality, the stage in which events happen.
The month pillar represents the operational system, the structure that governs and sets the rules.
The day pillar is all about the people, the everyday life, the interpersonal relationships on a one-to-one level.
The hour pillar represents the result of the past and the projection to the future – the youngest generation.
2026 BAZI CHART – the global energic structure of the year represented graphically through the Four Pillars of DestinyThe influence of that global energy on personal levels depends on the interactions between the individual chart (defined by the birth date and place) and the general chart (defined by the current time).

But even if you don’t have your natal chart, knowing what is coming allows you to be prepared. It is like checking the weather forecast before going on a camping trip. The storm will come anyway for all… but you packed a raincoat. And that makes a huge difference.
Decoding the Energy
The Horse comes implacable.
Unapologetically, it accelerates, intensifies, and carries a non-negotiable fire that burns the established bridges.
“I don’t follow the rules; I create my own.”
Proud and independent, the Horse is born to lead, move, and discover new ways. Its boundless energy, paired with Bing YANG FIRE ignites this year with passion, courage, ambition, quick change, and focused determination. Not a time to procrastinate.
The image of the year is the radiant Sun at its zenith. Bing–Wu illuminates the path with passion, decisiveness, and a self-led authority that shines from within. The light is so bright and intense that it casts no shadows.
Meaning of the Elements
Resource — FIRE — is the most abundant element. In Chinese metaphysics, Fire represents vision, enlightenment, inspiration, transformation, and the ability to see reality through a different light. The resources and means to grow (knowledge, information, tools, talents, guidance, support, and help) are plentiful and available for us to use and thrive.
However, excessive Fire without control is a hazard. In an overheated scenario, a little spark can quickly become an uncontrollable cascade of intense reactivity.
Power — WOOD — is also abundant. The EARTH Day Master is under pressure. Controlling forces push us to perform at our highest capacity. No messing around. Challenges face us directly, forcing us to evolve and radically transform what has been neglected for a long time.
Output — METAL — is the Useful God, the most valuable element this year. Metal means order, rigor, structure, logic, sharp clarity for decision–making, and self–discipline to shape the outside from within.
Use all the available resources to start up, perform, and express your potential in a fast–changing world. Work hard, aligned with your inner master, on what you wish to achieve. The momentum will help you ride the wave toward your goals.
Wealth — WATER — is missing and highly needed to calm, refresh, and control the excessive Fire. The lack of Wealth triggers feelings of scarcity, neediness, wanting more income, and the fear of not having enough.
The energy of the Water element is used for deep introspection, silence, and wisdom to separate what is truly valuable from what is ego–driven: the genuine desire to be abundant vs the need to be perceived as wealthy.
What to Expect – the ADHD year
2026 carries a strong and powerful energy capable of sustaining tension, pressure, and speed.
There is a sense of urgency and acceleration. Life fast–forwards, quick and unstoppable, without time for reflection. At 2x speed, the world won’t wait for the hesitant and dormant.
It will be difficult to stay still and focused. Inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity are prone to arise in a collective that is performing poorly and too distracted by the outer world.
The tension and agitation lead to impulsive reactions, heated emotions, and sudden decisions taken without double (or single) thinking. Energy focuses outward. React first, then reflect.
Yang Fire – the Sun – brings a peak of visibility. The deepest, darkest, most hidden aspects of our collective and individual beings can no longer be concealed. Patterns, programs, beliefs… all are exposed to the light, to be healed and radically transformed.
We are tired of hiding in the shade of old shame, guilt, and lies that don’t belong to us. Falsehood dissolves when exposed to light.
Our little inner child gets the courage to speak up and claim the space to be heard, seen, and acknowledged.
“I want to be seen. I deserve recognition.”
There will be massive opportunities to shine and blossom. Moments of bright clarity, inspiration, determination, and strong willingness alternate with extreme fatigue, mental exhaustion, and apathy.
The Horse in current Period 9 brings culmination – the final closure, once and for all, necessary to grow and evolve.
Challenges, obstacles, problems that intensify; convulsions, chaos, wars (outside and inside) ego–led battles, unpredictable energy… The wake–up call won’t come nicely for those unprepared.
“I’m going to yield the unyielding, move the unmovable.”
Feeling overwhelmed? Don’t panic. You came this far; you deserve solutions.
5 Strategies to Harness the Fire Horse’s Energy to Your Advantage
Strategy #1: Slow & Calm Down — don’t fall into the trap of urgency.
Don’t rush your actions. Reflect on your decisions.
“There is plenty of time for those who remain focused;
never enough for those who procrastinate.”
Avoid the temptation to react impulsively. Instead, let your calm demeanor guide you toward a wise resolution. Stay away from ego–led wars, gossip, and drama. Think before acting, step back when burning emotions emerge, and nurture your nervous system. Use your emotions wisely to fuel your intentions and propel your actions in the right direction. Slow down to go faster.
Strategy #2: Use the Water Element — the wisest, deepest, most introspective version of yourself.
Attention goes within. Rest and restore when you feel agitated. Cool down, meditate, immerse your body in lakes and seas, soak in the rain, take cool showers, cultivate your wisdom, and maintain a slow–flowing attitude in the face of challenges. Adapt, be flexible, and dive deep to discover the treasures at the bottom of your ocean.
Strategy #3: Use the Fire Element — it’s time to shine, beautiful soul!
The world needs the Light of Your Being (I’m 100% sure; otherwise, you won’t be here – at this time and place… and reading this post). It’s time for the darkness to be cast away, dispelled, dissolved, and sent back to Source.
Be visible, inspire others, share what you know with honesty, and show up with authenticity, unapologetically – like the Horse.
Fuel your mind with new learnings (technology, hobbies, skills) and be social without comparing with others. The beam of light that opens your way will also illuminate the path of those walking along – each one in their own lane, but guided by the same Sun.
Fire can burn or illuminate; transform or destroy. Choose to create something new, something your soul has been dreaming of for a long time. Instead of fighting with the old, heal your wounds with the alchemy of Fire.
Strategy #4: Be Proactive — do not hesitate, passivity is not an option.
Otherwise, you will be pushed to react. The Horse rewards those brave and decisive who know where they go. Take the reins, stay active, and walk your path with focus and determination.
Act with vision, clarity, and authenticity. Make a plan that resonates with your soul and be flexible. Adapt and recalculate your route without losing sight of your final destination.
Zero self–indulgence. This is not the time to coddle yourself in “toxic treats” under the guise of self-care. Be radically honest. Stop justifying your flaws, blockages, or habits that lead you to procrastinate. Take a rigorous look at the aspects of your character that are getting in the way of your goals; no more self–sabotage hiding behind the excuse “that’s just the way I am.”
Strategy #5: Lead from Within — don’t follow the collective narrative.
The Horse will reward those willing to change and transform the foundations of existence as we know it.
The system that governs the structures and supports the status quo becomes stern, rigid, autocratic, and overly authoritarian. More bureaucracy, surveillance, control, wars… but Metal melts in the presence of Fire.
Think for yourself, do your research, question old patterns, and make your own rules aligned with your inner truth.
BONUS #1: Have your space Feng Shui ready — annual cures and harmonizations.
Challenges come stronger to an environment that is not balanced.
Your business is doing great, you’ve been sleeping well, feeling good… and suddenly, for no “apparent reason”, something shifts: money flow slows down, expenses increase, clients don’t come as they used to, insomnia – that unwanted night visitor – shows up… Chances are that temporary energies are the ones to blame (assuming no renovations or major space/life changes occurred).
In order to ensure continuous good health and fortune, your home must be up-to-date regarding cures for both permanent and temporary energies. Classical Xuan Kong – Time and Space Feng Shui – is a dynamic practice that requires some attention each year.
» Friendly reminder here: purge, declutter, and thoroughly clean and clear your space before applying any Feng Shui cures. 2026 is the perfect time to let go – burn – old identities and outdated attachments that no longer represent who you want to be.
Every year your house receives the visit of temporary energies. They come on the Solar Chinese New Year (Feb 3-4) and stay in your place for 12 months. Annual energies are temporary, but their effect is strong. Even if you don’t know your home’s Qi map – energy chart – following the guidelines below will reduce the chances of unwanted events.
Auspicious areas — sectors of your property where positive energy is visiting
SOUTHEAST: add Wood element – like a healthy plant – to enhance the fire star 9, the most auspicious energy during this period, and activate the area with yang (movement and light).
EAST: place a detail in Fire element – like a small candle or something red.
Inauspicious areas — sectors with not–so–friendly energy
SOUTH: avoid running water (fountains, swimming pools, etc.), live fire, renovations, digging, or construction work. Keep the area yin (quiet and dark). Add good quality Metal element and spirituality – like a golden Buddha, piano music or a Tibetan gong. A traditional cure for the negative energy that visits the south this year is to place a golden bowl with water and 2 tbsp of sea salt, and 6 silver coins (or rings) immersed in the salted water.
NORTH: don’t disturb the area. Avoid major renovations and earth digging.
